First FULL inclusive Europaen Championship 2024

The German Ju-Jutsu Association (DJJV) is proud to have been host of the Ju-Jitsu European Championships from May 23 to 26, 2024, at the Schürenkamp Sports Center in Gelsenkirchen.

The 2024 European Championship, held in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, was a major success for the Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF) and the Ju-Jitsu European Union.

As the official international federation for various forms of Ju-Jitsu, including fighting, Jiu-Jitsu (Ne-Waza), Duo System, and Show System, the JJIF once again demonstrated its dedication to promoting this martial art on a global platform.

Top athletes from all over Europe gathered to compete in different disciplines of Ju-Jitsu. Notably, this year’s championship featured Inclusive Self Defence and Para Jiu-Jitsu events for the first time. At JJIF, we recognize and prioritize inclusivity and accessibility for all individuals.

According to JJIF President Panagiotis Theodoropoulos, “We are delighted with the success and diversity of this event. Ju-Jitsu is a sport that welcomes everyone, and we are proud to demonstrate that through our inclusive categories.” Expert Elcirley Paz Silva played a crucial role in promoting adaptive jiu-jitsu globally and lent his support to the Para Jiu-Jitsu category at the championship. His presence further showcases JJIF’s commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within the sport.

The JJEU, DJJV, and Bushido-Ryu Gelsenkirchen e.V. have joined forces to organize this event, with Christian Bazant at the helm and assistance from Roberto Tirella of the Ruhr Regional Association’s Sports Department. The BMI and city of Gelsenkirchen are also lending their support to this competition.

Additionally, the European Championship 2024 served as a qualification event for the Chengdu World Games 2025.
