Genoa Open 2024: A display of International Sportsmanship

The JJIF international event “Genoa Open” recently took place at the Stadium Genova della Fiumara, marking a significant milestone in the city’s tenure as the European Capital of Sport 2024. Hosted by the Lino Team Ju Jitsu and Judo in cooperation with the Ju Jitsu International Federation, this prestigious competition drew 506 athletes from 22 nations, each vying for glory and valuable points in the world ranking list.

Competitors from Saudi Arabia, Austria, Belgium, Congo, Denmark, France, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Mauritius, Mexico, Montenegro, Netherlands, Macedonia, Norway, Romania , Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden and Ukraine showcased their skills across various disciplines including Fighting System, Jiu Jitsu, Duo System, and Show. The event also featured a captivating demonstration of Para Ju Jitsu, highlighting inclusivity and diversity within the sport.
Additionally, a seminar on Contact Ju Jitsu, underscored the event’s commitment to innovation and growth.

The success of Genoa Open 2024 was made possible by the unwavering support of the Municipality of Genoa, with Councilor of Sport Ms. Alessandra Bianchi playing a pivotal role in championing the event. High-ranking officials from JJIF, including President Panagiotis Theodoropoulos and General Director Joachim Thumfart, demonstrated their commitment to the sport’s development by gracing the occasion with their presence.

Behind the scenes, the dedicated efforts of Matteo Repetto and Chika Costantini, alongside their respective teams, ensured the smooth execution of this monumental event. Their hard work and dedication have laid the groundwork for what promises to become a recurring highlight on the JJIF calendar.
