Start of 2025 competition season - GENOA OPEN is setting the bar

The second, record-breaking edition of the Genova Open International Ju Jitsu has ended. The new Palasport in Genoa hosted over 600 athletes from 19 nations and 4 continents: Europe, Asia, Africa and America and, overall, more than 4000 people in the three days of competition, decreeing “Liguria” as the European Region of Sport. A big party for the home athletes of the Lino Team, with: Agata Moretti who won gold in the Under 16 -63 Kg Fighting System category. Federica Mazza is silver among the Adults +70 kg Fighting System. Bronze for Chiara Fiorelli among the Adults -63 Kg and for Elio Moretti in the Under 21 -56 Kg. Among the foreign “stars”, the German Sophie Buescher confirmed herself in the -57 Kg Adult category of the Fighting System. Gold also for Ruben Ragunath in the -85 kg of the Fighting System. Great emotion also for the challenges of inclusive self defense with the victory of Naples / Naples as well as in Para Ju Jitsu with the final success of Michele Russo.

They were three days of great “martial” show or rather of Sports JuJitsu, those just spent in Genoa on January 31, February 1 and 2, 2025, on the occasion of the record-breaking Genoa Open. Great enthusiasm and satisfaction on the part of the master and organizer of the event: Matteo Repetto, we are really proud of this second edition, which recorded great enthusiasm among the Italian and foreign delegations. The novelty that made the difference was the Palasport of Genoa, which in these 3 days of competition thrilled athletes, professionals, public, managers of the Fijlkam and the Ju Jitsu International Federation, demonstrating that it can host events of national and international caliber for JuJitsu. In the “parade” on Saturday 19th, the flags of the participating Nations were carried by the very young Ligurian athletes of: Tegliese, Pieve Ligure, Shitama and Lino Team.

Alongside the top world leaders of Ju Jitsu (Joachim Thumfart and Christian Horvath), the president of the FIJLKAM National Commission Antonio Amorosi, the master Piero Rovigatti, the representatives of the Fijlkam JuJitsu National Commission spoke: Raffaele Buovolo, Dario Quenza, Stefania Bavoso, the councilor for Sport Simona Ferro (Liguria Region) and Alessandra Bianchi (Municipality of Genoa), the deputy vice president of Coni Liguria, Andrea Fossati and the Mayor Pietro Piciocchi, who did not want to miss the awards ceremony for some athletes. To conclude, the A.S.D. Lino Team, with all its endurance, was up to the high level of the competition, Repetto closes satisfied, we are proud to have made this event grow for our Liguria contributing to being: European Region of Sport, making an appointment for 2026 for the third edition of the Genoa Open.
