JJIF Workshop for Contact Ju-Jitsu

Full Contact - but Head Impact Free

The “Head Impact Free” variation of the JJIF Contact Ju-Jitsu was the focus of a recent seminar in Greece. The seminar was organized by Ioannis Dimitropoulos from Ronin Combat Ju Jitsu in Thessaloniki, and was conducted by Bertrand Amoussou and Joachim Thumfart. Over 50 participants from Greece and Romania were in attendance.

President Greece (and JJIF board member) Maria Charitopoulou was also present at the seminar. The “Head Impact Free” rules of Contact Ju-Jitsu were discussed in detail, and everyone in attendance had a great time learning more about this exciting martial art.

On the second day of the event, the participants had the chance to collect
experience by sparring with each other. This was a good opportunity for
them to learn from each other and improve their skills. The JJIF Continental C License for 8 referee. [6 from Greece, 2 from Romania] were all achieved. All of them did a great job and helped make the workshop a success.

Now all are looking forward to the World Cup in Contact Ju-Jitsu in Thailand on the 23./24. May 2023

For the AIMAG 2017, the host country and the Olympic Council of Asia asked for a full contact Ju-Jitsu tournament – so JJIF committed to include this discipline in Ashgabat / Turkmenistan  The first official Contact Ju-Jitsu tournament was conducted in the Asian Championship 2017 in Hanoi/ Vietnam. Suresh Gopi [JJAU Vice president] developed the first versions of JJIF Contact Ju-Jitsu rules in 2016.

The new Head Impact Free Contact Ju-Jitsu ruleset, unique to its kind, gives the opportunity for a natural evolution for athletes interested in more contact aspects of jujitsu while avoiding complicated and expensive medical protocols often associated with full contact fighting sports. This makes it a suitable youth sport.

Jujitsu is a combat sport that has been around for centuries and is one of the oldest martial arts in existence. The new Head Impact Free Contact Ju-Jitsu ruleset brings a fresh and exiting perspective to this age-old sport.

By removing kicks and punches to the head, this new ruleset allows for a more safe and controlled environment while still providing the opportunity to engage in full contact sparring. This will allow athletes to explore the full potential of their techniques and skills without having to worry about serious injuries often associated with head strikes.

This unique approach to jujitsu will provide a fun and safe environment for young athletes to learn and grow in their skills. It also has the potential to attract new participants to the sport, as it offers an accessible entry point into the world of full contact martial arts.
